The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration maintains a web-based registry of National Hazardous Materials Routes by State. For each state, you have the option of viewing the information in an Excel spreadsheet or as a PDF. These files list the designated and restricted HM routes. There is also a state map which displays the routes.

There is also an interactive map for each state. When you click on the route order number on the left side of the screen, the route on the map is highlighted. The relevant restriction and designation codes are also displayed. Clicking on the down arrow at the top left reveals an explanation of the codes.
This tool may come in handy for route planning, especially for operating in a new area. Although there are signs posted for Haz Mat restrictions, it would be nice to know in advance what the best routing would be. This applies to trucks passing through an area. Trucks making pickups and deliveries would have access for that purpose.
